Alex McHugh is the Managing Director of Rapid Construction, and oversees the Transport Infrastructure Division. With over 30 years of experience in the construction industry, Alex brings a wealth of practical and strategic expertise across a broad range of construction disciplines.
Alex began his career as a Leading Hand Carpenter and steadily progressed through roles such as Supervisor, Site Foreman, and Project Manager. His early hands-on experience has grounded his leadership style in practical knowledge, attention to detail, and a deep understanding of site operations. Over his 20+ year tenure at Rapid Construction, Alex has played a pivotal role in the company’s growth and diversification, particularly within transport, civil, heritage, and restoration.
Alex has led major projects for Sydney Trains and other government and private sector clients, building a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure works in live, high-risk environments. His leadership has been instrumental in the successful execution of time-critical and logistically challenging projects, ensuring safety, quality, and stakeholder satisfaction throughout.
