Rapid completed the construction of the new Tennis Academy Building for Hornsby Shire Council in August 2018 at a cost of $1.4m. The new 280 square metre building provides meeting and administrative spaces, storage, toilets, showers and a new kiosk. The building foregoes conventional air conditioning instead utilising passive solar design strategies to assist heating and cooling, including sensor-controlled ventilation, carefully planned orientation of openings and thermal mass. It incorporates a 6.5Kw photo-voltaic solar array and 10,000 litres of underground rainwater storage. Designed for function and built for sustainability.
