The Chinatown Gate Restoration involved the full refurbishment of the North and South ceremonial gates, covering structural, architectural, and decorative elements. Works included replacement of marble cladding, conservation and re-gilding of heritage plaques, and repainting of concrete and decorative features. Structural timber components such as glulam beams and rafters were inspected, repaired, and upgraded as required. Roofing was renewed, including soffits, battens, and reinstatement of City-supplied tiles and ridge details under specialist guidance. Decorative timber panels, including English and Chinese signage, were carefully removed, refurbished, and reinstalled. Heritage elements were preserved, with items securely stored and returned to the City where required. Lion statue plinths were demolished and replaced, with new statues installed and surrounding paving reinstated. Provision was made for future electrical services, along with installation of a bird deterrent system.
