During the 23-24 financial year Rapid will support Sydney Trains’ ongoing track slab renewal project high in the Blue Mountains between Bell and Lithgow on the Main Western Line, at the Ten Tunnels Deviation – The Zig Zag Tunnels. The up and down mainlines are both seeing progressive renewal of the track slab and the work is delivered via 12-day track possessions, with two planned for the 23-24 year. The work sequence includes assembly of track slab fasteners, unclipping and removal of rails, demolition and removal of existing slab, preparation and installation of formwork, installation of dish drains, fixing of starter dowels and reo, placement and finishing of concrete, followed by fixing of rail plates, rail and fasteners.
