Bantry Bay Rechlorination Plant (RCP) sits on Kirkwood Street near Wakehurst Parkway, Killarney Heights NSW 2100. Constructed circa 2001, the two current RCPs are housed within existing buildings and are now out of date, presenting a medium risk of failure that creates both operational safety and environmental risks. Given these concerns, demolition of the existing chlorination plant and replacement with a new rechlorination facility is recommended to meet contemporary standards and mitigate risk.

The project objective is to upgrade water quality by renewing and/or upgrading the facility to align with current Sydney Water standards, while installing a new rechlorination plant. This upgrade aims to enhance operator safety and minimise the likelihood of dosing facility failures that could impact water quality. The scope focuses on delivering a Demolition and Civil Works package for the Mechanical and Electrical Renewal Project.

Key scope elements include decommissioning, demolishing, and disposing of the old RCP; constructing a new CDK pad; building a new delivery hardstand; erecting a retaining wall and concrete footpath; installing electrical pits and conduits; laying underground pipework and pits; restoring the access road; and implementing chlorine analyser works. The document outlines the detailed requirements for the Subcontract Works related to Demolition and Civil Works, supporting the overall mechanical and electrical renewal of the rechlorination system.
