Mulgrave Railway Station - Stormwater Management

Water management upgrade including pre-cast concrete pumping station and infrastructure. Completed at Mulgrave Station, the project involved substantial excavation and then construction of a 300,000 litre Stormwater Detention Tank and Pump House, connected to the existing storm-water system, within the rail corridor. The purpose of the build was to reduce the overland flow of water into neighbouring properties during heavy rain events. The project location was also in close proximity to critical infrastructure within the rail network. All work was carried out under the supervision of Transport for NSW & Sydney Trains  works supervisors and protection officers. The depth of the pump house at 8m and the SW Retention Tank at 5m, with rail infrastructure including track and stanchions on one side of the works and a public road on the other, meant shoring and benching techniques were employed. The works involved excavating the site and installing the pre cast concrete sections, waterproofing, electrical, hydraulic and mechanical fit out, site remediation, commissioning and training. The project was a successful one, with no injuries, incidents, near hits, safety breaches, no variations requested and completed on time according to program.
