Regional Court House Upgrades - Forster, Warren & Boggabilla

Foster: security upgrades to the Court Room to improve isolation of those appearing, addition of duress alarm systems, improvements to receiving dock security, and upgrades to amenities and disabled access.

Boggabilla: extensive Heritage stabilisation, remediation and renewal. Sinking footings were stabilised; the decking was completely removed to allow sagging and failing joists to be re-levelled or replaced and the decking was then reinstated, sanded and oiled. Chimneys were stripped and repainted, fencing components including posts, rails and pickets were replaced and all doors and windows were repainted. Bathrooms and amenities were cleaned and painted, the Registrar’s and Magistrate’s offices were tiled with new carpet and a new air-conditioning system was installed. Finally tactile indicators and new kerbs were installed on ramps and walkways.

Warren: The Court House had suffered severe termite damage, to the extent that most internal joinery including wall, raised floors and sub-floor areas were largely termite mud. We completely removed the Magistrate’s Bench, the Witness Box and the Podium, leaving only the rear timber wall in the Court Room, with its Coat of Arms as original. All other joinery was replaced by Rapid – we used Spotted Gum with tinted Carnauba Wax which was then polished to match the existing sheen. The process is similar to French Polishing however our method saved the client time and therefore cost as well.
