Rapid completed the construction of the new Tennis Academy Building for Hornsby Shire Council in August 2018. The new 280 square metre building provides meeting and administrative spaces, storage, toilets, showers and a new kiosk. The building foregoes conventional air conditioning instead utilising passive solar design strategies to assist heating and cooling, including sensor-controlled ventilation, carefully planned orientation of openings and thermal mass. It incorporates a 6.5Kw photo-voltaic solar array and 10,000 litres of underground rainwater storage. Designed for function and built for sustainability.
