Situated on the Bruxner Highway at Tabulam in Northern NSW, a new road and pedestrian bridge was constructed by others to replace the now-demolished old, single-lane, timber and steel truss bridge across the Clarence River. Rapid was engaged by Roads and Maritime Services to deliver the next stage of the project, which saw a retained section of the old bridge preserved and protected, and then incorporated into a new public park on the eastern side of the river, adjacent to the new bridge. The steel and timber bridge truss section of approximately 8 metres by 5 metres was re-purposed as a viewing platform, with handrails, timber deck and information plaque providing detail on the history of the original bridge and the surrounding area. The river banks are also the site of significant Aboriginal Heritage items and locations.
