Following on from our award-winning work at Bathurst Courthouse completed in 2022, Rapid is once again partnering with Heritage Stoneworks to deliver regional Heritage Conservation works, this time in Wellington NSW. Wellington Courthouse is a distinctive example of a Federation Romanesque style public building, and evokes a sense of authority through its unusual, heavy massing and strong use of materials. The courthouse is also an outstanding example of a public building designed by Gorrie McLeish Blair. The extant building is the third courthouse built in the town, which has been an important centre for administration and justice in the region since 1838. The scale and quality of Wellington Courthouse demonstrates the importance of the town to the broader region. The Courthouse forms part of a locally significant series of Heritage-listed structures. From early September 2023 Rapid will be delivering roofing, drainage work, timber repairs, brick and stonework, painting, and seismic stabilisation of chimneys.
